a friend of mine swears by Aperture Priority….uses it all the time. I am a full manual guy, but I tend to lose fast shots that way fiddling with the dials.
i swear by it too! AV all the way!
I gotta take it one knob at a time, Chris. Moving off Auto was a big enough step! And anyway some of your cameras don’t have an Auto option do they?
lol… some of my cameras don’t have any options at all….. just a shutter button.
Andrew, you were asking me about why I was using Aperture Priority the other day while shooting the Mummers. It was pretty much just experimentation with the camera but another thing about Av is that it can allow you to really help control the DoF more.
If you’re taking landscape pictures where you want the entire scene in focus, go for a small aperture. If you want sharp foreground images with an out of focus background (like several of my Mummer shots), open the lens up more.
With the Av setting, you can pretty much set and forget and hope the camera does a good job managing the other settings to properly expose the shot.
